Our Mission

Our mission is to provide clean water solutions to rural schools and communities in Liberia, West Africa and indigenous communities in the United States. This will help to empower women and provide pathways out of poverty through education and entrepreneurship. Building sustainable, healthy communities through education, inclusivity, access to information, and culture will help us to achieve our vision of Liberia with a clean water system in every rural community. 

Kpelleh Water’s mission, vision, values and goals align with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and we aim to help actualize goal number 6, which is clean water and sanitation. To make a difference through collaborative partnerships and other’s working to provide clean water for Liberia’s most vulnerable. 

• 18% of all deaths in Liberia are due to waterborne diseases and  
• 90% of those deaths are of children under the age of 5. (UNICEF, Data 2017) 

Part of Kpelleh Water’s mission is to provide empowerment out of poverty through education for girls and women. Our education initiatives will include training in entrepreneurship as well as training for Well Keepers to protect the health and functionality of the wells and the water systems Kpelleh will provide to these communities. Many NGOs (non-government organizations) and others have provided wells for these communities and left, without training the communities to repair and maintain the wells they provided. This adds to the problem as many of these wells are not treated for contamination and functionality making them harmful to the people that still use them as water sources for their families.  

Kpelleh Water will address these issues by doing needs assessments to find out exactly how to combat these issues by soliciting the communities we serve to have ownership in these projects so that their needs are met, not what we feel they need. This is how my grandfathers gained the trust of their communities and now it’s my great honor and privilege to continue in their footsteps by working together with those we hope to serve toward ending the clean water and sanitation crisis in Liberia’s rural communities. With Kpelleh Water Inc, and collaboration with others working in WASH-Water Sanitation and Hygiene we can make a social impact that will improve the lives of Liberians.
